ARB SALES LIMITED

Colin started out in the welding business at Thomas A Metcalfe Limited or Metcalfe Welding products as it was better known. 

 

After being there for 25 years, the Metcalfe brothers decided to sell the business and retire.  Following a couple of changes in ownership with Motherwell Bridge Air Systems and then Leengate Welding, Colin decided it was time to leave.  

 

A business relationship between ARB Sales and Metcalfe Welding products brought about a conversation between Colin and Andrew Bingham (whose father had started the company), regarding an opportunity at ARB Sales and Colin joined the company in 2005 following a request from the current owners.

 

Following some difficult times we were joined by Nigel O'Neill who formally owned a very successful electrical contracting business based in Whaley Bridge.  Having owned a long established business Nigel brought with him a wealth of business knowledge and financial acumen which secured a more stable future for ARB Sales.  

 

Martin Longden was already with ARB when Colin joined them and had previously worked with Andrew for some years.  Prior to this Martin had worked at Federal Mogul and he lived in Chapel-en- le-Frith and therefore he seemed to know everyone and had a very good knowledge of the local area.  Also being a brilliant guitarist and playing for Route 66, Stinger and LTD Edition in and around Buxton and the High Peak only added to this significance.

 

Also from Chapel-en-le-Frith with more local knowledge Neil Bennett (RIP) was also at ARB with Andrew and Martin, Neil's what we called the gentleman of the company, a true gentleman and there are not many of them about these days.  Even in the twilight of his working career Neil refused to completely retire and worked a couple of days a week for us, he was a shining example to anyone of similar years.  With a background in the motor industry and his dedication to succeed, Neil brought much needed business to the company.  You might also want to keep your eyes open around the local area for some of Neil's painting which he mastered while also finding time to play in the local brass band.
